VENDOR OF THE WEEK

Sunden’s Stone Pointe Farm

The Roseland Farmers’ Market is proud to introduce our new Farmer, Rich Sunden of Sunden’s Stone Pointe Farm of Old Tappan, New Jersey.   “Farmer Rich” is a second generation farmer and a pioneer in the Farmers’ Market movement in the Garden State.  The family business has dramatically evolved over the years.     His Dad started by raising chickens and pigs back in the 1930’s and  later “grew” into produce.  Rich is a rarity, and not just because he’s one of Bergen County’s last farmers.

Unlike other farms in his corner of the state, what he grows is almost exclusively for the local farmers’ market scene.  Farmers’ Markets are his element and he has worked in 30 different locations in 20+ years.  When we asked him what he most about the markets, he said “it’s the people and the connection I make with the local community”, “it’s in my blood”.

“Farmer Rich” is excited about meeting Roseland residents and the market goers from all over the region and hopes that folks will stop by to introduce themselves.   Rich takes pride in his work and is proud of his role in making the dream of Community Farmers’ Markets like ours a reality.
