 HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Meet Your Market Supervisor
If you have visited the Roseland Farmers’ Market anytime over the past four seasons, there is no doubt that you are familiar with “The Face of The Market”! That would be none other than John Fitzgerald, affectionately known to market goers and friends as “Fitz”. A self-proclaimed and proud lifelong “Jersey Boy”, Fitz was born and raised in nearby Westfield.

He moved to Roseland’s Stonegate Community in 1985 to what he and his lovely wife Rona thought would be their starter home. They went on to raise their two sons there. Daniel is an Account Executive with Chase Manhattan Bank in Madison, and John lll (“JJ”) is an Account Executive with Hunterdon Brewing Company, a craft beer distributor. And Rona is a Senior Care Manager with Synergy Home care providing home care to the elderly.

Fitz deservingly retired after a long and rewarding career as a Retail Executive.

As a “doer”, volunteerism runs deep through Fitz’s veins. While the boys were students in at Roseland’s Noecker School, he coached T-ball and Soccer youth league teams in the Borough.

John’s leadership skills were put to very good use as a former President of the Stonegate Homeowners Association Board of Directors and currently as Vice President.

An active and dedicated member of the Roseland Green Team Fitz was on the leadership team that helped to establish our award winning Roseland Farmers’ Market in 2010. He rarely misses a meeting and almost never misses a market day. He is the first person to greet you and the last to wish you a great weekend and offer a “see you back next week at the market” As Market Supervisor Fitz wears many hats each Friday, but is actively engaged in the market layout & organization and the daily on-site operation. To say he works aggressively to make the market a pleasurable experience for residents, guests and vendors alike, would be a major understatement.

While most of us are having breakfast on Friday mornings or dinner evenings Fitz can be found in transit to and from the market on his scooter. The same love, passion and leadership that Fitz has brought to his household are what he has for the Roseland Farmers’ Market.

Fitz is truly the “fertilizer” has helped the market grow over the past few years. The grass is greener at the Roseland Farmers’ Market thanks to John and we are forever grateful for his untiring commitment to helping the market grow taller than the pine trees that tower over it.

So the next time your picking up your market favorites please stop by and say hello to Fitz and thank him for helping to make the Roseland Farmers’ Market the celebrated gathering place that residents and guests have come to know and love. The “Face of The Market” is not only a great Ambassador of the market but one of the hardest working, dedicated, and kindest men you’ll ever meet. We appreciate what he does week in and week out and the love and care that he the brings to market and our customers. Roseland is truly a better place because of his leadership and commitment. Thanks Fitz for the “Service Above Self” you bring to “The Gove”
